Review: Christian Beach has “got something very good going right now”

Gary Wien has posted on AsburyMusic.com a review of Rick Barry’s August 2009 Night in Progress show at The Saint in Asbury Park, NJ. Near the end of the review, Wien praises the performance of Christian Beach. Among his comments:

…Switching between guitar and keyboard, Beach showcased intense vocals that reel you in. He’s got that sort of classic rock vocal style which can make every line seem so important that you strain yourself to listen to every word. He reminds me of someone between Joe Jackson and Bruce Hornsby – a sound we don’t hear much along the Shore. As someone that loves piano-based rock and roll, I think he’s got something very good going right now…

Review: Wave Gathering 2009 – Lazlo’s Den

Lazlo, of Lazlo’s Den fame, recently posted his review of last month’s Wave Gathering festival in Asbury Park, N.J. During the first night of the three-day music fest, Lazlo caught a number of acts, but only a couple of these really impressed him…and of those acts was Christian Beach.

All of these acts were amazing, but I think I was most impressed by two acts I had never seen before that are at the opposite end of the musical spectrum.

The Creetons with their fiercely entertaining punk rock set, and later that night, the rootsy upbeat folk-rock of Christian Beach (accompanied by mandolin and percussion).

The Rag: Christian Beach CD Release Party a Hit

If you are at the Jersey Shore, be sure to pick up your copy of the May 2009 issue of The Rag, which features a review of Christian Beach’s April 10th CD release party at The Saint in Asbury Park, N.J.

Here’s an excerpt:

Christian has come full circle with the release of his self-titled CD “Christian Beach”…showcasing Christian’s musicianship and amazing vocal range. Seeing him perform songs from the new CD live makes the audience aware that this isn’t your parents’ pop. It is much edgier with more of a twangy rocky/fok sound. Whatever it is, it works.

If you can’t wait or are unable to get your hands on an actual copy of The Rag, you can check out a scan of the review online by clicking on the link below.
